Hallo,
Hello to All,
My dad, Dr Saul Hertz discovered the medical uses of radioiodine (RAI)…yes, before the atomic bomb! His work began with the seminal question“ Could iodine be made radioactive artificially?“to MIT’s President Compton in 1936. He had many challenges to overcome to bring this life saving treatment to fruition:the fear of a nuclear medicine, being an outsider and dealing with the institutional politics of the time and a Word War thrown into the mix.
2016 marks the 75th Benchmark since Dr Saul Hertz gave the first therapeutic treatment of RAI.Here is a short video that I hope you might platy at the upcoming European Thyroid Congress this September 3-6. Perhaps you and /or someone from your organizations may be attending. In the US ThyCA and The Light of Life/ Check Your Neck groups have been supportive of honoring my dad an his work.

Recently I received this email: Treatment with radioactive iodine knocked the thyroid cancer (metastatic to a little bit of bone and lung) right out of me, exceeding my doctors expectations. That was about 8 years back. I am now 81. We have a large family. Many were praying for me. The cure delivered on the wings of prayer was your father’s discovery, the miracle of radioactive iodine. Few can equal such a powerful and precious gift. Margaret .
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Barbara Hertz
Harald
